Take Control of Your Diet with ChiaMax
Take Control of Your Diet with ChiaMax™
Weight management can be a lot easier than most people think. The trick: find a food that makes you feel full and then simply add it to some of your favorite dishes. For many people, the key for weight management may be high – fiber ChiaMax. Made from nutrient – rich chia seeds, it’s great for people with busy schedules.
Generally, fast food means fast gain weight. Although the high – fat content is a no – brainer culprit, most people don’t realize the negative effect of low – fiber foods, such as bread products and cakes.
Low – fiber foods take up less space in the stomach so people eat more to feel full. But the feeling of fullness only lasts a little while and people soon feel hungry. That’s because low–fiber food is digested more quickly than high – fiber food. The problem doesn’t stop with simple weight gain. Those extra pounds add up, and they can increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke, hypertension and other serious conditions.
The USDA’s daily recommendation for fiber is between 20 to 38 grams – depending on a person’s age, gender and health conditions. According to James W. Anderson, M.D., chair of the National Fiber Council, only about 20 percent of the Americans receive the daily requirement for fiber. The majority of people in the U.S. just get about 10 to 15 grams per day.
When selecting fiber for weight management, choose the right type.
"Not all fibers are created equal," said Dr. Anderson. Soluble fiber in oatmeal, for example, is great for reducing cholesterol and smoothing out blood sugar. But insoluble fiber, which is the primary ingredient of ChiaMax, is best for dropping pounds.
"ChiaMax would promote regularity and have bulking action to make you feel full. It would have an effect on weight management," said Dr. Anderson.
One ounce of ChiaMax contains 14 grams of fiber. For folks who only get about 15 grams of fiber each day, the additional 14 grams from ChiaMax could help them meet their daily requirement.
"Most people – even those with irritable bowel syndrome – can tolerate substantial amounts of fiber if they slowly increase their intake," said Dr. Anderson. Just be sure to drink plenty of water to help the digestive process.
ChiaMax also provides alpha–linolenic acid (ALA) – an essential Omega– 3 fatty acid. Identified as essential because it is not produced in the body, ALA from plant sources helps to reduce excess linoleic acid (LA), the nasty stuff that’s found in many fast foods and can cause inflammatory problems. One ounce of ChiaMax is loaded with 1.7 grams of ALA Omega–3. Although the ideal amount is still being researched, receiving 1.5 to 3 grams of ALA daily seems valuable.
Chia seeds have been around a long time. Native American Indians packed the seeds for long trips, and then added water and dished them up at mealtime. The seeds expanded in the liquid and gave a feeling of fullness. Providing energy for travel, they could be considered an ancient type of fast – food.
To boost weight management, use ChiaMax with your favorite foods and eat smaller portions. The nutty taste works as a topping for yogurt or cereal. Tuck some in wraps, or on sandwiches. Sprinkle some on salads or coleslaw. Add it into fruit smoothies, soups, sauces, or gravies. Mix a couple tablespoons in cookie dough, brownie mix, or cakes. It’s a good substitute for eggs because it binds together all the ingredients.
ChiaMax contains 8.4 grams of protein in one ounce. That’s almost equivalent to one large egg. The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for a 150–pound adult is 54 grams of protein. However, many dieticians who promote a vegetarian diet recommend a smaller amount.
"Americans have a love affair with protein," said Georgia Hodgkins, Ed.D., R.D., professor and associate chair of nutrition and dietetics at Loma Linda University in California. "But only about 25 grams of protein is required each day," she said. That means one ounce of ChiaMax could account for nearly 17 grams of protein – enough protein for two meals.
Weight management and eating healthy food with lots of fiber doesn’t have to be hard with ChiaMax. For maximum benefits, be sure to exercise every day and get the support of your friends and family so you can stick with your new food plan.
