Las Vegas, NV 21 October 2010 - At Supply Side West 2010, Valensa International (Eustis, FL USA) showcased a broad range of patented and patent pending formulations for condition specific health issues featuring innovative ingredients responding to solid science and manufactured under strict quality controls. The company showcased new astaxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin-based eye health formulations, differentiated and formulated for customers in both the mass market and natural products marketplace. Valensa also showcased new multi-component joint health and cardiovascular health formulations, including the Flex Pro ES™ joint health formula that was introduced this week in conjunction with Mercola Health Resources. In addition, Valensa introduced two new ingredients - Omega Joe ALA™ Perilla Extract and Pur-Blue™ Premium Coated Spirulina.

Omega Joe™ ALA Perilla Extract Delivers a Daily 'Cup of Health'

At Supply Side West, Valensa introduced Omega Joe™ ALA Perilla Seed Extract - a new ingredient made from select perilla seeds using Valensa's Deep Extract® ultra-high pressure supercritical CO2 process. The new ingredient has been launched in response to increasing awareness and interest in alpha linolenic (ALA) Omega-3 fatty acids in addressing cardiovascular health issues and other conditions related to chronic inflammation resulting from overconsumption of Omega 6 fatty acids and diets with a high Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratios. Omega Joe ALA Perilla Extract features a 6:1 alpha linolenic acid (Omega-3) to linoleic acid (Omega-6) ratio, making it the highest naturally occurring seed-based botanical agent for delivering ALA to combat the pervasiveness of Omega- 6 in Western diets. According to Moerck, "Studies that have focused on the ratio of LA to ALA show clear evidence that the nations in which that ratio is high have much greater incidence of mortality from cardiovascular disease. In the United States and parts of Europe, where the LA/ALA ratio is typically 30:1, the CVD mortality is 45/1000. In populations where LA/ALA is closer to 1:1, that rate drops to 5/1000. This suggests that regular supplementation with a plant-based ALA Omega-3 such as chia, perilla or flax should start in early years and become a lifelong routine for people having 'typical' Western diets."

New Joint Health Formulation with Mercola Health Resources

Immediately prior to Supply Side West, Valensa and Mercola Health Resources, LLC (Hoffman Estates, IL) announced today that they had entered into a license and supply agreement that provides Mercola with Valensa's new Flex Pro ES™ joint health formulation. With one tablet a day, Flex Pro ES is designed to provide both near- and long-term support of joint health featuring four proven joint health ingredients - Zanthin® Natural Astaxanthin, BiovaFlex™ Water-Soluble Egg Shell Membrane, boswellia and hyaluronic acid (HA). The formula specifically avoids the use of chondroitin and glucosamine/MSM, ingredients that can lead to unnecessary salt burden and, given the large size and "pill count" of these supplements, swallowing difficulty. While at Supply Side West, Valensa and Parry Nutraceuticals also showcased their industry leading spirulina product - Parry Organic Spirulina. As an extension to this well-respected brand, they introduced Pur-Blue Premium Coated Spirulina - a phycocyanin-coated form of their premium spirulina product that masks the 'algae' taste that some consumers find objectionable. The all-natural, aqueous extract of phycocyanin gives Pur-Blue its intense blue color - offering companies interested in marketing spirulina to a broader range of consumers an attractive, neutral tasting product that can appeal to the pickiest of eaters.

Eye Health: Major Focus

Another key emphasis of Valensa at Supply Side West was its efforts in supporting eye health - based primarily on the company's Zanthin® Natural Astaxanthin product in combination with other proven eye health ingredients. Chief among these was Eye Pro™ MD, a recently introduced formulation that contains the carotenoids astaxanthin, lutein, and trans zeaxanthin and features a proprietary Omega-3/phospholipid delivery system as well as Vitamin D3. The formulation has been developed based on the results from the CARMIS clinical trial (Carotenoids and Antioxidant in Age Related Maculopathy Italian Study) that were reported in the journal Ophthalmology in 2008 and other studies.
